AACO Asia Office
The AACO Asia Office is located in Guangzhou, the central city of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Founded in Egypt in 1958, AACO is a large ophthalmic academic organization spanning across Africa and Asia. In the past 62 years, AACO has successively held ophthalmic conferences in Egypt, Tunisia, Turkey, Lebanon, Japan, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, China, Morocco, and Nigeria, among other countries. AACO has jointly promoted the prosperity and development of ophthalmology in African and Asian countries through extensive academic exchanges.
After discussion with Vice President Professor Mokbel and Secretary General Professor Mamoun, with the intent of strengthening the connection among member countries, the AACO Asia Office was established in 2019 under the organization of President Professor Lezheng Wu. The office is located in Huanghuagang Sci-tech Park, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou. Professor Haotian Lin, Researcher at Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center (ZOC) of Sun Yat-sen University and Chief Scientist of National Key Research and Development Projects, serves as the Office Director, and Professor Xiuwen Hu, President and Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Ophthalmology, serves as the Information Exchange Officer. With ample science, educational, technical and financial resources, and the support of world-class medical and scientific staff, the Asia office is well equipped to succeed. In taking advantage of the international talent and open knowledge innovation atmosphere, the Asia office will carry out creative activities to promote the development of ophthalmology in the countries in Africa and Asia, and aim to accelerate the improvement of academic research and clinical medicine.
We at the AACO Asia Office hope to cooperate with ophthalmologists and researchers from all over the world to jointly create a better future for Afro-Asian ophthalmology. We strive to make progress further!
