I am honored to be a member of the Board of the Afro-Asian Ophthalmology Council (AACO). Many thanks to President Prof.Lezheng Wu, Vice president Prof.T Mokbel, Secretary General Prof T Mamoun and Treasurer Prof M Morshed for their efforts to AACO. I visited three important websites about AACO with pleasure and pride.

About Prof. Dr. Aysun İdil
Prof. Dr. Aysun İdil is an expert in two medical fields, ophthalmolgy and Public Health-Epidemiology. She has carried out many projects on the prevention of blindness and low vision rehabilitation and has many publications.
Idil has carried out the first epidemiological field research related to Behcet's Disease and Diabetic Retinopathy in Turkey. Also she began the visual rehabilitation services in Turkey.
She is the founder and director of Ankara University Faculty of Medicine vision research and low vision rehabilitation’ center. Also first time in Turkey, she has started 'vision, artificial vision and rehabilitation of low vision' master's and doctoral programs for ophthalmologist. She is also the president of the “First Look” Charity Association.
In 2010, she was honored with the prestigious Ankara Chamber of Medicine Science and Service Award for her public-health-focused work on prevention of blindness and less visible rehabilitation.
In 2016, 'lifetime disabled-friendly' award was given.
